Free Adult Education Class on April 19!

Greetings Gallatin Gateway Patrons:

In order to provide the best possible information to our community, Gallatin Gateway School will be providing a free course to provide an overview of school funding.  The course will occur on Tuesday, April 19 in the Gallatin Gateway School Board Room.  We will examine and discuss the Gallatin Gateway School general fund budget to include potential implications on the local tax base regarding the general fund operational mill levy presented to voters in the May 3, 2016 election.  Attendees are encouraged to bring their 2015 property tax bill with them to the class.  The intent of this course it to provide accurate information to our tax payers so that they have the best information possible in order to cast their vote.

Understanding School Finance – A look at the Gallatin Gateway School District

Basic General Fund Levy Information:

The Gallatin Gateway School District Trustees authorized a proposal to increase the over-base local taxes to support the General Fund in the amount of Twenty-Five Thousand, Three Hundred and Eighty-Nine Dollars ($25,389); thus, representing approximately 5.12 mills.  The purpose of this proposal is to maintain programs and operations within the district.

Passage of this proposal will increase the annual taxes on a home with an assessed market value of $100,000 by approximately $6.91 and on a home with an assessed market value of $200,000 by approximately $13.82.  The durational limit of the levy is intended to be permanent.
