Washington DC Trip!

I just want to say how very proud I am of our 8th grade class.  We just got back from our annual visit to Washington D.C. and we all had a wonderful learning experience.  We also had the opportunity to visit with both of our Senators (Tester and Daines).  This picture is from the office of Senator Daines.  During the trip we visited: The United States Capital, The White House, The United States Supreme Court, The Library of Congress, The Smithsonian, The National Mall, The Holocaust Museum, Ford's Theater, Mount Vernon, The International Spy Museum, and Arlington National Cemetery.  Thank you to Mrs. Johnson for coordinating the trip and thank you to our chaperones Mr. Cohenour, Mrs. Bright, and Mrs. Harrison!

Ice Cream Social

Thanks to everyone who came out for yesterday's ice cream social.  It was great to visit with so many of our community members about the school levies on next month's ballot.  I would also like to thank all of the district trustees for being there in support.

Coffee for Classrooms Results

As you know, the Community Food Coop sponsored Gallatin Gateway in March for their Coffee for Classrooms program.  Ten cents from every cup of coffee purchased at either Coop location during March was donated to the school.  Last month there were 5,721 cups of coffee were served, so the Coop presented the school with a check for $572.10!  Thanks so much to the Community Food Coop for supporting our school!

Second Chance Breakfast Launches at GGS!

Today we launched our Second Chance Breakfast program.  This program provides an additional opportunity for students in grades 3-8 to get breakfast a little later in the morning.  Thus providing an additional opportunity for students to receive the proper nutrition critical for optimal learning.  This project would not be a reality if it were not for the substantial efforts of our kitchen staff (thanks Bobbie Jo and Brooke), the GGS Whole Child Committee, Board Chair Donna Shockley, and several of our dedicated staff members (thank you Mrs. Yager, Ms. Clark, and Mrs. Fisher).  Thank you so much for all that you do to make our school a great place to work and learn!
